Mould Cooling Jacket



Mould cooling jacket is another vital part during the continuous casting; it’s also the most unnoticeable one. The well-proportioned water gap between mould and water jacket plays a crucial role to insure the cooling uniformity of mould, years of work have demonstrated that this part has to meet the highest quality standards and pinpoint accuracy to enable you to make full use of all the excellent characteristics of the latest generation of moulds.

General water jacket usually has a typical combinational structure of two shaped stainless steel plates welded together, but the processing performance of this material is poor, and easy deformation in welding process, it’s difficult to ensure the accuracy of the mould assembly and water gap width, result in uneven cooling in the continuous casting process, which influence the billet quality and the service life of mould. In view of such conditions, CIUC studied carefully and successfully developed a new type of water jacket which is fabricated by drawing die set – integral drawing water jacket. Simple mechanism, a single piece with big wall thickness, very small size tolerances and non-deformable over time, installation is simple and reliable.

We take care to get every detail right. The water jacket will be delivered to you ready for use, and all you have to do is assemble the mould in the water jacket, without any adjustment or control. The rivets used to center the mould inside the cooling jacket are set and fixed taking into consideration the exact outer dimensions of the mould, as well as the copper’s expansion during casting. Thanks to this new solution we have eliminated one of the main problems that make steel casting so difficult, greatly reducing the time needed to take out the used mould and install the new one.

EAF Electrode Collet / Holders


CIUC also produce high-efficient and durable EAF electrode collet & holders. Using high quality materials with high conductivity, producing through forging and heat treatment process enhanced its mechanical strength and high-temperature behavior. Optimal designed geometries enable the current equally distributed, power loss reduced. The accurate water cooling channels ensure optimum cooling conditions, which prolongs the service life.

Mould Refurbishing


Mould tubes


As a matter of basic principle, mould tubes are designed as expendable items. Yet, in certain cases it may be economically worthwhile for a client to have his large-section mould tubes reworked.


Mould plates


CIUCs maintenance and refurbishing services for mould plates include the proper remachining as well as repair of stud-welded moulds and possible recoating of the copper, plus a complete overhaul of the entire mould assembly, if needed.


In the case of a complete mould overhaul, the mould will be dismantled and all its mechanical and supporting parts will be inspected and, if necessary, renewed. Like CIUC's newly built moulds, the reassembled unit completes with the remachined copper – or with new copper, if necessary – will undergo a complete operational check.
